Digital Literacy – Audio in the Classroom

COVID UPDATE

As restrictions are relaxed for professional learning, our in-person workshops are starting again in Term 3 with COVID-Safe measures in place.

Hands on workshop

Literacy for today’s students is not just about the reading and writing. Students need to be able to create a range of written, spoken and multimodal texts for different audiences and purposes. Fluency in a range of modes including written and spoken language, audio, visual (still and moving image) is important for our students.

This one-day workshop will equip teachers in the skills of recording, editing and sharing audio – so you can creatively integrate audio into your classroom. This will include how to create audio resources for your students, and to enable your students to easily create audio themselves.

In this hands on workshop, participants will:

  • explore how audio can be effectively used for teaching and learning

  • experience hands-on a range of apps and software that incorporate audio

  • use various types of microphones and audio interfaces

  • undertake activities to build skills and confidence, and to use with their students

  • create a range of projects including simple recordings, digital books and podcasts

  • be provided with resources to get started in the classroom

  • look at software for iPad, Mac, Chromebook and Windows devices

Make the most of the iPads and laptops in your classroom by using audio across the curriculum, to engage students and improve learning.

All equipment (except headphones) will be provided, including iPads, laptops, and microphones.
For hygiene reasons, please bring your own headphones with a 3.5mm plug.

Cost is $295 inc. GST per person, including morning tea and lunch.
