HANDS ON Mac OS X & iPad WORKSHOP

iBooks Author is free, easy to use software for Mac, which allows teachers and students to create interactive, media rich digital books for the iPad across the curriculum.

Tell a story, create a textbook or social story, present a concept, create a project folio, reflect on learning, or make a journal.

The uses of iBooks Author are only limited by your imagination.

In this hands-on workshop, you will be guided step-by-step in how to use iBooks Author, create your first iBook and transfer it to an iPad to explore. This workshop will cover:

  • Installing iBooks Author
  • Creating an iBook
  • Adding text, photos and videos
  • Using Widgets
  • Using interactive 3D objects
  • Adding Accessibility
  • Previewing your iBook on an iPad
  • Publishing & Distributing options

If you have an idea for a book, bring along the raw materials – text, images and videos so you can begin to create your book during the workshop. You will learn how iBooks Author is a simple way for everyone to publish professional digital books.

Bring your own MacBook to use during the workshop, so you can continue to work on your iBook after the day. If you don’t have one, we can provide you with a MacBook and iPad to use during the workshop. Please indicate when you register for the course in the ‘Special Requirements’ section.

Completing Creating Digital Books for iPad using iBooks Author will contribute 5 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing 2.6.2, 3.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
