Hands on iPad Workshops

iPads in Action:  Mathematics

A great number of mathematical apps have been created for Primary School students. iPads in Action: Mathematics will outline and review the various styles of apps that have been designed and discuss how best to use them in classroom settings.

Are you looking to introduce or review concepts? Is the aim of
your lesson to build speed and confidence? Would your students benefit from enrichment activities? Come and discover the apps and activities best suited to you and your students.

Participants will be introduced to a wide variety of apps throughout the day to showcase the number of ways iPads can be used to successfully support and engage students in their learning.
This workshop will involve a series of practical demonstrations and a range of engaging hands on activities and will provide teachers with:
• opportunities to explore, compare and discuss a selection of mathematical apps
• ideas for whole class lessons, group projects or individual activities
• selection criteria to guide the choice of apps for different learning needs
• recent findings and insights from research into ways that digital maths activities can encourage and support learning
• demonstrations and examples of creative ways that iPads can be used to encourage and capture mathematical thinking

Cost is $265 inc. GST per person, including a delicious morning tea and lunch.

iPads in Action:  Digital Storytelling

Students are captivated by multimedia experiences and enjoy reading eBooks. This workshop will demonstrate and review a variety of iPad apps that enable students to cleverly capture, create and share their own digital stories.

At iPads in Action: Digital Storytelling a range of lesson ideas will be shared as participants explore how they can easily create multimedia stories, poems, plays and news reports.

Come and experience how easily iPads can allow teachers and students to create, edit and publish digital stories.
This workshop will include practical demonstrations and a range of engaging hands on activities. Teachers will be:
• introduced to a diverse selection of apps for digital storytelling
• involved in creating a range of digital stories, reports, plays and poems
• provided with lesson ideas and demonstrations of digital stories created by students of different ages
• given insights into recent research projects that highlight how digital literacy can encourage and support literacy learning

Participants will also explore and discuss ways that digital story telling can encourage students to work together cooperatively and promote critical and creative thinking.

iPads A-Z

As more schools decide to introduce iPads into their classrooms, teachers are not only asking, ‘Where do I start?’ but ‘How can I get the best out of what an iPad has to offer?’
iPads A-Z is a one day workshop that equips teachers to become confident and creative in their use of iPads.
Participants will be involved in a series of practical activities throughout the day that explore how to use the many features and functions of iPads. These demonstration and hands on activities will cover navigation, camera use, audio recording, projecting an iPad, printing files and images, email, web browsing, launching and switching between apps, managing documents, searching for and selecting apps, moving content between apps as well as on and off your iPad, 
Come and learn how to master an iPad and discover the ways they can be used to engage your students and enrich their learning day by day in your classroom.

iPads in Action:  Apps & Activities

With so many educational apps available, many teachers are asking for guidance about which Apps to purchase and how to best facilitate their use.

iPads in Action: Apps and Activities for Creative Classrooms will showcase and review a selection of quality apps for learning across all KLAs and explore how best to use them in classrooms through a series of hands on activities and discussions.

This workshop will also outline and demonstrate a wide range of activities that make clever use of the built-in apps that now come with every iPad, including iBooks, iMovie, GarageBand, Pages, Numbers and Keynote.
